Viking Community,
As we celebrate Black History Month, we proudly honor and affirm our students, families, and staff who are Black. Your identities, histories, cultures, and lived experiences are an essential part of who we are as a school community, and we are deeply grateful for the many ways you strengthen, inspire, and lead within North High School every day.
As writer and activist Maya Angelou reminds us, “History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again.” Black History Month calls us to face our history with honesty and courage, honoring the resilience, brilliance, and contributions of Black people while continuing the work of building a more just and equitable future.
At North, we remain committed to ensuring that every student, family member, and staff member feels seen, valued, and affirmed for who they are. This month, and every month, we celebrate our Black community and honor the lasting impact you have on our school and beyond.
