Behind every powerful woman... are more powerful women.
Direct from Broadway, comes the acclaimed Tony Award®-winning musical Suffs about the brilliant, passionate, and funny American women who fought tirelessly for the right to vote. Created by Shaina Taub, the first woman to ever independently win Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score in the same season, this “thrilling, inspiring and dazzlingly entertaining” (Variety) new musical boldly explores the triumphs and failures of a struggle for equality that’s far from over.

Production Details:
The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) and Musical Theatre International (MTI) have awarded Denver North High School the Suffs: The Young are at the Gate grant. As one of twelve schools nationwide to receive this honor, Denver North High School is one of the first groups to produce this important story, following only the Broadway and first national tour productions.
The grant, announced in partnership with Suffs’ creator Shaina Taub at the International Thespian Festival (ITF), called upon schools to design their own outreach program connected to their production in the spirit of the theme “the young are at the gates.” Winning schools were selected based on how creatively and meaningfully they incorporated the theme into their proposal. The twelve schools received complimentary licensing and production materials to produce the hit musical during the 2025-26 school year. The applications were adjudicated by representatives from the Broadway Suffs production including Shaina Taub, Rachel Sussman, Leigh Silverman, Mayte Natalio, and Jill Furman, director of the Stagedoor Manor pilot production of Suffs Matt Gehring, and representatives from MTI and ETF.
Denver North High School’s production of Suffs will run March 19–21, 2026, at 7 p.m. in the Denver North Black Masque Theatre. “The Black Masque community is honored to bring this powerful production to the stage—one that not only illuminates a vital part of our history, but also sparks meaningful action for our future. Stay tuned for more information on upcoming SUFFS community outreach events and a complementary art installation,” said Megen Gilman, Director of the North Black Masque Theatre.
