Details: North High School’s Black Masque Theatre presents Suffs: The Young Are at the Gate, the Tony Award–winning musical about the young activists who fought for women’s suffrage. North is one of just twelve schools nationwide selected to produce Suffs.
Suffs is a Broadway musical about the American women’s suffrage movement and the long fight to win the right to vote. It centers on the activists—often called the “Suffs”—who pushed, protested, organized, and sacrificed to secure passage of the 19th Amendment. Suffs explores the tensions, disagreements, and unfinished work within the movement—especially around race, power, and whose freedom was prioritized.
