The Griebenaw Family – Grand Marshals of the 2022 Homecoming Parade
Dorolyn Griebenaw attended Edison, Skinner and graduated from North High in the 1960s. Dorolyn’s mother, sister, uncle, and her aunt all attended and graduated from North.
Don Griebenaw says he “took locker” at North – he attended Lutheran High School which dismissed earlier than North and would meet Dorolyn at her locker to give her a ride home.
Dan and Doug, the Griebenaw sons, attended and graduated from North in the 1990s.
Dan was active in music and Doug was active in music and theater. Dan and Doug were both on Odyssey of the Mind teams that competed at the Odyssey of the Mind National Competitions.
Dorolyn and Don helped restart the PTSA at North and were active in the Bingo efforts to raise money for the North High Clubs. Dan and Doug also worked the bingo games.
Dorolyn met with Wally Ginn (founder of the current Alumni Association) and helped the North Side High School Alumni Association grow. She and her family have been instrumental in putting the issues of the VIKS Newsletters together, getting them printed, and getting them in the mail.
At the various events of the North Side High School Alumni Association, Don, Dorolyn, and Dan can be found assisting to make the events a success. Dan and Virginia have two little sons who are usually around to “assist” with events as well.
The Griebenaws have purple blood and are a family of Vikings!
