Dear Parents/ Guardians and Incoming 9th Grade Students Class of 2028:
We would like to welcome you to North High School! The North High staff is thrilled that you have selected North for the next chapter in your student’s journey! High school is a critical stage in a student’s life and enormously influential in your student’s future. During your student’s four years as a Viking Scholar we will ensure that they are academically prepared for college and career, as well as support them through this adolescent period. Students will also be able to participate in a host of sports, clubs, activities and make life-long friendships during their years as North High Vikings.

There are FOUR ACTION STEPS that need to be taken at this time to officially accept your seat.
The official DPS registration window will open May 6th. This is a required step for all DPS students each year, and must be completed after Seat Acceptance. You will receive information both from DPS and from North about this process closer to the opening of the early bird registration window, which runs from May 6th through June 5th. Additionally, North will host in-person registration for families who need support during the summer and those dates will be communicated later.
We are hosting three options for 9th Grade-Class of 2028 Orientation Events on Tuesday April 23rd.There will be presentations at 5:00, 6:00 or 7:00 pm and you can participate in a school tour as well as talk to clubs, activities and counselors before or after your presentation. The content at these events is identical, please select the time that works best with your schedule. Attending one of these sessions is required for our new freshman families. We will be covering a large amount of information vital to our new students and their families during the orientation event.
To prepare students for 9th grade, DPS is offering an engaging five-week program called Ready for 2028. This is a full-day opportunity from June 12- July 17, 2024. The curriculum will focus on building students’ math, humanities, and science skills with an integrative, inquiry-based approach. Students will also learn about college and career planning, and engage in social emotional learning. Students who complete this program will earn 5 academic elective credits, equal to a semester-long class. The other summer program, which is required for all incoming 9th grade Vikings, is Ninth Grade Academy (NGA), scheduled for August 5-8 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. NGA will jump start your student’s transition to high school and prepare them for a strong start to the school year! Please see below for more information and to complete registration.

To assist in the transition from middle school to a successful high school experience, North, along with the other DPS high schools, is hosting Ninth Grade Academy for incoming students. This exciting, fun, and informative program will last four days, and all of North’s incoming ninth grade students are required to attend.
